What you are billed for

Text and reasoning models

Per 1M tokens, separately for input, output and cached input. Reasoning tokens count as output. Streaming costs the same as a single response.

Image models

Per image, by output resolution. Image input to a text model is billed as input tokens.

Video models

Per second of generated video, by resolution and whether audio is included. Failed generations are not billed.

How rates are set

  1. Start from list. The model library shows every provider's published list price. That is the ceiling.
  2. Price per model, per account. Your rate card quotes each model you run, below list, based on your expected volume and term.
  3. Step down with volume. Rates are reviewed as usage grows. You never need to renegotiate to get the next tier.
  4. In writing, dated. The rate card states the rates, the models, the regions and the billing terms. Changes come with notice.

Pricing questions

How are tokens counted? +
By the provider's own tokenizer for each model, the same count you would see going direct. Input, output and cached input are itemised separately on the invoice.
Am I billed for failed or empty requests? +
No. Requests that return an error are not billed. A completed request with an empty response is billed for the input tokens the provider processed.
Does streaming cost more? +
No. Streamed and non-streamed responses are billed identically.
Is there a minimum spend or lock-in? +
Pay as you go has no minimum and no term. Committed plans trade a 12-month term for the lowest rates.
Is GST included? +
Rate cards are quoted exclusive of GST. Australian entities receive a GST tax invoice; overseas customers are not charged GST.
What happens when a provider changes a price or retires a model? +
We pass the change on with written notice and a date, and suggest a replacement model where one exists. Committed rates are fixed for the term.
Can I pin a model version? +
Yes, where the provider offers dated versions. Ask for the pinned ID when you request your rate card.
Is my data used to train models? +
Never. See the security and data page.
