Data residency
Claude with Australian regions on request
Anthropic's first-party API offers global or US inference only (Anthropic data residency docs, checked 2 November 2026); on Seedrise, Claude Opus 5.5, Sonnet 5.5 and Haiku 5.5 can be pinned to Sydney or Melbourne on request, and Claude Fable 5.1 runs on global routing only.

Which Claude models can run in Sydney or Melbourne
Anthropic list prices in USD per 1M tokens, as at 1 November 2026, on global routing. Seedrise rates are quoted per account.
| Model | Region | Sydney or Melbourne | Input | Output | Cached input |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Claude Opus 5.5 claude-opus-5-5 | AU | Yes, on request | 4.00 | 20.00 | 0.20 |
| Claude Sonnet 5.5 claude-sonnet-5-5 | AU | Yes, on request | 2.00 | 10.00 | 0.10 |
| Claude Haiku 5.5 claude-haiku-5-5 | AU | Yes, on request | 0.10 | 0.50 | 0.010 |
| Claude Fable 5.1 claude-fable-5-1 | Global | No, global routing only | 10.00 | 50.00 | 0.25 |
Haiku 5.5 prices are for prompts up to 100,000 tokens; longer prompts use Anthropic's higher long-context rates. Model IDs are Anthropic's own, with no vendor prefix.
What region pinning means
| Model inference | Runs in an Australian region, Sydney or Melbourne, for every request on a pinned key. |
| Prompt and output content | Not stored by Seedrise. It passes through the gateway and is not written to disk or logs. |
| Request metadata | Model, token counts, timestamps, status, key ID, request ID. Kept for billing, audit and abuse prevention. |
| Gateway path | Every request passes through the Seedrise gateway, which checks the key, budget and allow-lists before the model call. Pinning sets where the model runs; the gateway path is described on the security and data page. |
| Provider-side retention | Some providers retain content for a limited period for abuse monitoring. We label those models and can exclude them for your keys. Upstream inference logs can also keep request and response content for a period set by the upstream provider; ask us for the current terms. |
| Training | Never. Neither Seedrise nor, under our provider terms, the model providers train on API traffic. |
Region pinning describes where inference happens. It is not a promise that no data leaves Australia: the sub-processor list shows the countries our hosting and model providers operate in.
The regional premium
Anthropic publishes a premium for regional endpoints over global endpoints (Anthropic published pricing, checked 2026-11-02). Australian-region routing carries that premium, so your rate card shows a separate Australian-region rate for each Claude model you pin.
| Model | Global routing, input / output | Australian region, input / output |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Opus 5.5 | 4.00 / 20.00 | 4.40 / 22.00 |
| Claude Sonnet 5.5 | 2.00 / 10.00 | 2.20 / 11.00 |
| Claude Haiku 5.5 | 0.10 / 0.50 | 0.11 / 0.55 |
Anthropic list prices in USD per 1M tokens, as at 1 November 2026. Australian-region figures apply the published regional premium. Haiku 5.5 figures are for prompts up to 100,000 tokens.
Seedrise rates are quoted per account against each provider's published list price for the same routing; see how pricing works. The Claude 5.5 launch rate applies to global routing only, not to Australian-region routing.
Privacy Act basics for AI APIs
General information about the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs), not legal advice.
- Prompts can carry personal information. Sending it to a model that runs outside Australia is generally a disclosure to an overseas recipient.
- APP 8 asks for reasonable steps. Before disclosing personal information overseas, you take reasonable steps so the recipient does not breach the APPs, usually through a contract.
- You generally stay accountable. If the overseas recipient mishandles the information, the Privacy Act can treat it as your breach, with limited exceptions.
- Your privacy policy should say so. APP 1 expects you to state whether you are likely to disclose personal information overseas and, where practicable, to which countries.
- Australian regions narrow the question. On a key pinned to Sydney or Melbourne, inference runs in Australia. Requests still pass through the Seedrise gateway, and your other obligations still apply.
How Seedrise handles its own overseas disclosure is in the privacy policy, and the countries our hosting and model providers operate in are on the security and data page. For your own obligations, talk to your privacy adviser.
How to request it
- Ask for Australian regions. Mention them when you request a rate card, or email support@seedrise.ai on an existing account.
- Name the keys. Pinning is set per key, not per request. Tell us which keys or projects should run in Australian regions.
- Keep your code. The model IDs stay the same: claude-opus-5-5, claude-sonnet-5-5, claude-haiku-5-5. There is no request parameter to add; the key sets the region.
- Lock the key down. Add a model allow-list so a pinned key only calls models marked AU, and exclude any region you do not want.
